Kumauni Archives
A monumental digitization effort to protect rare manuscripts, books, and cultural artifacts.
Digitizing Our History
Physical artifacts deteriorate over time, and many crucial pieces of Uttarakhand's history are at risk of being lost to the elements. The Kumauni Archives project is our response to this urgent threat.
Our team works meticulously to scan, restore, and digitize a wide array of historical materials, including:
- Rare Manuscripts: Hand-written texts detailing historical events, local laws, and spiritual practices.
- Vintage Books: Out-of-print literature and educational materials.
- Maps & Copper Plates: Land records and royal edicts.
- Audio/Video: Old folk song recordings, interviews with elders, and documentary footage.
"To lose a manuscript is to lose a conversation with our ancestors. We are ensuring those conversations continue."
